Nik Andishan Ramezan Charity Institute (under the coverage of Saipa Car Manufacturing Group):

Saipa Car Manufacturing Group decided to establish Nik Andishan Ramezan Charity Institute in 2005, in line with fulfilling its social responsibilities and with the aim of centralizing charity acts.

The main part of activities to be performed by this institute is to construct educational centers in deprived areas of the country with the coordination of the relevant organizations.

Construction Project of Residential Complex for Parentless Children of Bam County:

Following the occurrence of earthquake in Bam county in January 2004, so many parentless children survived the incident. Therefore, given the general policies of Saipa company and its humanistic goals toward helping the stricken people of Bam, Saipa company took different actions including financial supporting of charity affairs and constructing a residential complex for taking care of parentless children of Bam with the coordination of Sepehr Bam Company.

This project was performed with a capital of approximately 3000 Million Rials in a land area of approximately 900 m in the area of old Bam. Residential complex for taking care of Bam parentless children include two separate two-story buildings located on the north and south of the land.

Between the two buildings, there is an unroofed yard. The above mentioned buildings are linked with each other via a 2-m width corridor with the length of 13.5 m. Additionally, in the north of the land (north of the northern building) a strip yard with the width of 2 m and length of 22 m is designed.

It should be noted that, the above mentioned project was completed in the end of 1385 (beginning of 2007) and was delivered to Sepehr Bam Institute.

The green management project of Saipa Car Manufacturing Group (2016-2025)

Saipa Car Manufacturing Group, as a global car maker, tries to take effective steps toward identifying direct and indirect consequences of its activities on the environment and helping to minimize it. Our vision is to reduce the environmental consequences resulted from the operational activities and make possibilities that Saipa group products reach a level at the end of their life in which they can be naturally recycles and the resulted resources and energy be completely reused.

This project specifies our orientation based on patterning from green projects and modern environmental approaches of the world car manufacturing industries which is, also, consistent with high level documents and Islamic Republic of Iran regulations including “national general environmental policies”, “goals and policies of automotive industry development in 2025”, general policy of “resistive economy” and “Saipa Car Manufacturing Group’s Vision”, and it embraces all the companies affiliated to Saipa Car Manufacturing Group.

Our process goal: “development of environmental infrastructure with orientation of green management, clean and low carbon production” in line with the projects predicted in Iran’s outlook 2025 and realization of the slogan of “Saipa, eco-friendly”.

Green Selection:

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), is the method in which the impacts caused by performing a project or its operations on the environment are investigated and predicted so that at the time of implementing the project, given the understanding of the existing status and the type of impacts, the operations are performed in a way that the least impact and harm would be imposed on the environment. In Iran, also, there is a legal necessity for assessing the environmental impact of some industrial and civil projects. In fact assessing the environmental impact is performed for avoiding the project’s negative impact on the environment and reducing the costs. In assessing the environmental impact, the impacts of the project on the environment are predicted so that measures may be taken to amend and reduce its negative impacts.

In this method, through conducting studies and the understanding that they acquire from the existing status of environment and the project processes in construction and exploitation stages, the experts identify the impact of operational factors on environmental factors in different stages and offer solutions for reducing the said impacts.

Green Production:

Green production is the process that has the least impact on the environment during the production of products and services. In order to achieve such process, it would be necessary to comply with the followings:

  • Compliance with environmental necessities and regulations and help to perform them
  • Continuous monitoring, protection against pollution and elimination of the existing pollution by setting up wastewater refinery system and using the related online system, measurement of production halls’ stacks and boilers every three months, compliance with clean air standard as well as using the international standards such as the group of ISO 14000
  • Reducing carbon emission, pollution and producing the least waste which are bio degradable (carbon mass footprint)
  • Increasing energy exploitation and optimal use of basic resources or reducing the use of resources with the help of international standards such as ISO 50001

Green Supply Chain

Green Supply Chain management, is the integrator of supply chain management with environmental necessities at all processes of product design, raw material selection and supply, production and manufacture, distribution and transfer processes, delivery to customer and finally after being used, recycle management, and reuse for the purpose of maximizing the exploitation extent of energy and resources consumption together with improving the performance of the entire supply chain. It is most often believed that green supply is defined as reducing or avoid using harmful chemical materials, which is completely incorrect because the chain goes beyond this stage and takes into account all parts of an organization. In fact, green supply chain is the product of integration of economic goals with the organization’s environmental goals.

Green Car:

Green car is a product having the least impact on the environment during its life cycle. Today the following factors are indispensable part of definition of a green car:

  • Eco Labeling (ISO 14022): Eco-labeling is a type of environmental labeling (performance) and is used for providing information as to the quality of the produced product for the consumers. Eco-label shows the distinction of a produced product (product or services) regarding the environment according to its life span specifications.
  • Product Life Span (Group of ISO 14040): Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a tool for decision making about determination and assessment of costs and environmental impact caused by a product, process and or a service during its life span. The focus of such assessments is on factors such as material flow, energy consumption, waste resulted from using raw materials and recycling out-of-order products.
  • Car Emission Standards are the tests related to environmental issues for approving the compliance of the car with emission control standards. Different countries have defined a variety of tests for ensuring the car emission control. Europe Union has defined seven different tests based on two systems of EU and ECE. These systems are used in Iran as well. Definitions such as Euro IV and Euro V amount to this system.

Green Services:

Car manufacturer’s after-sale services agencies should employ a working process in which the least impact would be imposed on the environment. Such processes include the following obligation:

  • To comply with environmental rules and regulations and help to perform them
  • To control and protect against environmental pollutants (water, air, soil)

Green Dismantling

Worn out cars are estimated to be responsible for producing 8 to 9 million tons of garbage in European countries every year. In this matter, Europe Union has laid down a law known as worn out cars law (EU ELVs) bearing number EC 53/2000 to be executed in all countries of the union. According to this law, car producers are required to take the worn out car produced by themselves from the final consumers and perform the recycle stages according to the legal standards.

Pioneer in Implementing Substitution of Worn out Cars Project

In line with implementing the substitution of old cars national project, the pioneer of which at nationwide level, was Saipa car manufacturing group in the late 70s of solar calendar (90s), the company succeeded to implement the substitution of old cars project in 2016 from Saipa’s internal financial sources (through scrapping and substituting 10025 worn out cars and subsequently reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emission, and substituting Tehran old taxis with the number of 881 Ario taxi car having Euro 5 emission standard).

Gaining the title of top green project and granting the green badge of Green Management Society of Europe and Global Energy Foundation by/to the project of: “Reuse of Saipa company’s refinery waste for industrial purposes and green space irrigation”

Every year, Green Management Society of Europe and Global Energy Foundation select those type of successful projects belonging to developing countries having economic, social, environmental impacts and knowledge production, through an assessment process with the purpose of introducing and appreciating them at the global level and enhancing public confidence as well as culture building in convergence of economic and environmental responsibility and praise them. In the same way, the project of: “Reuse of Saipa company’s refinery waste for industrial purposes and green space irrigation” was assessed by assessment team of Green Management Society of Europe on July 16, 2016 and according to announcement of the above mentioned society, it obtained the point of 759 out of 1000 and succeeded to be granted the “green badge” from Green Management Society of Europe and Global Energy Foundation as the top green project, and the said badge and appreciation letter were officially awarded to Saipa company during a special ceremony in Salzburg city of Austria. It should be noted that in the mentioned ceremony, in addition to granting the green badge, the strategic actions of Saipa Car Manufacturing Group in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development were appreciated. The summary of the achievement of implementing this project by deputy head of procurement and technical services department of Saipa Group is as follows: water resources management for exposure to water deficit crisis through reusing the consumed water and reducing water use from the nearby water resources, improving the quality of water to be used for industrial and agricultural purposes (including reducing electrical conductivity), prevent early depreciation of company’s equipment and installations, enhancing the useful life time of RO system membranes in coloring halls and reducing its current costs, prevent damage to flora of the company and reducing the maintenance cost of the company’s green space. We hope to take more effective steps towards the group’s environmental macro-strategy and realization of the slogan of “Saipa, eco-friendly” through implementing similar projects in other companies of the group.

Cooperation with national environment commission secretariat and the estate student’s sustainable development

The aim of establishing this pole is the proper and exact introduction of activities and goals resulting in expanding the activities related to environment and sustainable development in the student research centers of the country. Through providing a part of its pavilion for holding short environmental classes in the sixteenth international environment exhibition of the country, as well as a place for exhibition of the students’ environmental inventions and innovation, Saipa Car Manufacturing Group took the first step to expand the viewpoint of environmental protection and sustainable development.

  • Participating in public green space development through planting trees in arboriculture’s day in Khajir area (25000 trees) and Vardavard (22000 trees) and constructing irrigation tanks in Koohsar park etc.

  • Announcing Saipa Cultural Sports Club as the first eco-friendly club and using advertising and media capacities of Saipa club in development of environmental protection culture
